Omega Chronometers have always been highly sought-after by collectors because of their exceptional quality. This is not a standard production : these watches have been developed to be extremely accurate and win chronometry competitions. Production costs were high because all the movement parts needed to be carefully finished.
By way of comparison, in 1929, a similar watch was costing 1085 francs in Switzerland, and a standard (not chronometer) 18K gold hunter case pocket watch could be bought for 385 francs.
Solid 18K gold hunter case “à goutte”, very thick and heavy !
Original enamel dial with the mention “Chronomètre”.
High quality movement with screwed gold chatons, eccentric cam micrometer regulator, bimetallic cut compensation balance and blued steel Breguet balance spring.
A Chronometer pocket watch grade “very best” was sold by Antiquorum in 2007 for CHF 21.240 (see last picture).
